Excellent Fourth Quarter Helps Pacers Gaming Claim Week 1 Win

April 10, 2019

By Rotowire

Pacers Gaming handedly defeated Jazz Gaming by a lopsided score of 80-42 in the opening tilt of this NBA 2K League regular season.

The Pacers jumped out to a 19-11 lead after the first quarter. Their center, Ramo, played a huge role early with eight of the first 11 points. The Jazz had a tough time with the Pacers’ stingy defense in the opening minutes, translating to steals and fastbreak offense for the home team.
However, Jazz Gaming started to figure things out in the second quarter, trimming the deficit to four points with Pacers Gaming leading 31-27 at halftime. The Jazz became much more efficient while eliminating turnovers in the second stanza.

Any momentum gained by the Jazz in that second quarter was ultimately squashed by a 12-0 Pacers’ run to begin the third period. Ramo, once again, was the huge difference maker while scoring or assisting on 10 points within that streak. The Pacers defense regained their stifling ways while only surrendering six total points in the quarter. Pacers Gaming had a healthy 49-33 advantage after three.

The fourth quarter opened with a scoring barrage by Swizurk, the small forward of Pacers Gaming, as he tallied 11 points himself in the first 1:30 of the final stanza. That opened the floodgates, as the Jazz seemingly lost all confidence after that. Turnovers, fastbreaks, dunks, and a bombardment of threes propelled Pacers Gaming to a 31-9 advantage in the fourth quarter. The Pacers ended up winning by a final score of 80-42.

That monstrous fourth quarter propelled Swizurk to Player of the Game honors with 30 points via 6-of-10 shooting from three-point territory. He posted 19 of those points in the final stanza. Ramo flirted with a triple-double for Pacers Gaming, finishing with 19 points, 15 rebounds, eight assists and four steals.

The Jazz Gaming big man, Ria, ended up with 15 points and nine rebounds in a losing effort.

The Pacers are now 1-0 to begin the young season, while the Jazz fall to 0-1.
