T-Wolves Gaming use late push to defeat Lakers Gaming

Cameron Wilhorn | RotoWire

T-Wolves Gaming pulled away late to claim 88-78 win over Lakers Gaming in shootout fashion during THE TIPOFF, powered by AT&T on Wednesday.

Both teams got out of the gates hot in the first quarter, shooting a combined 18-for-24 from the field and 8-of-12 from beyond the arc as the T-Wolves and Lakers went blow-for-blow. The game eventually molded into a one-on-one match between Ryan1of1 and ShiftyKaii who each poured in 13 points for their respective teams as Lakers Gaming took a 24-22 advantage into the second quarter. Both offenses picked up right where they left off in the first period scoring at will by finding open shooters with timely passes. Up until this point, the game had been even across the board, but T-Wolves Gaming began to open an advantage in the rebounding department in the second, cleaning the glass with seven rebounds to earn extra offensive possessions to outscore the Lakers 24-20 in the period to earn a 46-44 advantage heading into the break. Ryan1of1 continued his offensive barrage, pouring in 10 more points to bring his first half total to 23, while TBShiftey accounted for 15 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals on perfect 6-of-6 shooting.

After a back-and-forth first half, the third quarter was a period of runs. T-Wolves would strike first, with BearDaBeast picking up takeover as they opened a nine-point advantage with three to play. However, the Lakers would answer with a run of their own to bring it back to a one-possession game until T-Wolves Gaming activated team takeover and used the boost to snare a six-point lead heading into the fourth quarter up 66-60. Krazy got hot early in the fourth, picking up takeover as the Lakers grabbed the lead and managed to stave off constant threats from the T-Wolves offense to earn a four-point advantage with two to play. However, T-Wolves Gaming would flip the momentum in an instant, holding the Lakers scoreless over the final two minutes to land a 14-0 run and ultimately earn the victory 88-78. T-Wolves Gaming got massive performances from ShiftyKaii (31 points, five assists), TBShiftay (22 points, three steals, 9-9 FG) and BearDaBeast (nine points, 18 assists) in the win. For the Lakers, Ryan1of1 led the way with 30 points and eight assists while Krazy finished with 19 points at the power forward position.
