Blazer5 Gaming dispatch Lakers Gaming
Cameron Wilhorn | RotoWire
Blazer5 Gaming improved to 2-0 in THE TIPOFF, powered by AT&T, after defeating Lakers Gaming 74-55 on Thursday.
After both teams struggled to make shots from beyond the arc to open Tuesday’s match, The Lakers and Blazers quickly turned their focus to the interior, finding high percentage looks at the basket and operating around the pick-and-roll. Though the Lakers dominated the glass, pulling down seven rebounds compared to three from Blazer5 Gaming, they turned the ball over a pair of times to allow the Blazers to earn an 11-10 lead moving into the second quarter. Almost immediately, the game began to shift even more in favor of the Blazers, with Harby getting red-hot, going 6-for-6 from the field including three triples on his way to 15 points and two assists in the period. The Lakers continued to struggle with the pesky Blazers defense, coughing the ball up three more times in the second while remaining cold from three-point land. Ultimately the Blazers would open a 33-26 lead heading into the second half behind the scoring outburst from Harby. For the Lakers, Krazy corralled 11 points, five rebounds and a block while shooting 5-of-6 from the field.
The three-point shot began to fall for the Lakers in the third, however, the Blazers’ offensive barrage was just too much for Lakers Gaming to handle. Blazer5 Gaming had their way on offense, whipping the ball around to find open shooters to rack up 18 assists as a team through three quarters. The production didn’t just come from Harby though, as the team received eight points from Jomar and six from KayAus. While the Lakers continued to win the rebounding battle, they spoiled the extra opportunities by turning the ball over three more times in the third. Blazer5 Gaming would end up entering the fourth up 55-43. Blazer5’s dominance would carry over into the final frame, holding the Lakers to just 12 points and forcing three more turnovers, to bring the Lakers total up to 11, as they cruised to victory by a score of 74-55. Jomar did it all down low for the Blazers, posting 16 points, 14 rebounds, four assists and three steals, while Harby finished with 22 points and six assists on 9-of-10 shooting. On the other side, Krazy recorded a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double while Ryan1of1 collected 16 points, six rebounds and five turnovers.
