Heat Check Gaming faced Knicks Gaming on the second night of pool play in THE TIPOFF, powered by AT&T.
Knicks Gaming opened the game with a 21-12 advantage in the first quarter, thanks to eight points from Duck. That lead grew to a 40-27 margin at halftime, with each team’s point guards trading buckets. Duck racked up 19 points through the first two quarters, while GlennRatty went for 15.
The second half was all Knicks, and the team pushed its lead to a healthy 64-46, with Duck scoring 13 points in the third quarter. Knicks Gaming finished the game strong and capped off a dominant Game 1 victory with a final score of 89-64. GlennRatty’s 29 points and seven assists and Hotshot’s 20 points and 18 boards were not enough to overcome subpar play from the rest of the squad.
Heat Check Gaming responded in Game 2 with an 18-16 first-quarter lead, though that quickly evaporated in the second quarter as Knicks Gaming jumped ahead 42-34 at halftime. OriginalMalik and CantGuardRob had big first halves, as the former went for 15 points and the latter racked up 14 points and seven boards. GlennRatty led all scorers with a huge 26-point effort, though his supporting cast managed eight combined.
Heat Check Gaming wasn’t able to cut into the lead in the second half and ceded an 88-73 loss in Game 2. It was a huge performance for GlennRatty, who managed 43 points and eight assists, while Hotshot went for 15 points and 11 rebounds on a perfect 7-of-7 shooting from the floor. For the second game in a row, however, he racked up at least five fouls. For Knicks Gaming OriginalMalik went for 36 points, six steals and five assists while stroking eight triples. Duck went for 19 points and 11 assists, while CantGuardRob totaled 18 points and 11 boards.
Knicks Gaming is off to a hot start in pool play, sporting a 2-0 record after two comfortable victories Both teams will face Bucks Gaming later tonight in separate, two-game series to wrap up pool play, and Heat Check Gaming will look to improve on its 0-2 start.
