Radiant’s Double-Double Powers 76ers GC to Semis

April 6, 2019

By RotoWire

76ers GC will advance to the semifinals of THE TIPOFF, powered by AT&T, after a 68-57 win over TWolves Gaming on Saturday.

Philadelphia point guard Radiant set the tone in the early going, tallying 15 points through the first six minutes including going 3-of-4 from downtown. Utilizing a handful of pick-and-pop options with small forward ZDS, Radiant’s ability to manipulate the defense into easy baskets effectively forced the hand of Wolves Gaming’s dynamic backcourt duo, as Hood and BearDaBeast spent pressure energy attempting to defend the scoring threat as opposed to operating the offense.

FEAST, the TWolves Gaming center, attempted to keep the game close, cleaning the glass en route to a near double-double by the end of the first half. While the revenge narrative (FEAST played for 76ers GC last season) didn’t exactly come to fruition, the big man routinely bailed out a surprisingly poor shooting Wolves Gaming squad, ultimately finishing the game with 17 points (8-of-9 FG) and 17 rebounds.

One moment in the third quarter essentially captured the entire contest for TWolves Gaming. On the verge of capping off a momentum-building third quarter, Hood connected on a three pointer with 2.4 seconds left to push the deficit under 10 points. However, with TWolves Gaming perhaps expecting a litany of short passes to drain out the clock, Philadelphia shooting guard Newdini33 someone leaked out along the left side of the court and found enough space to drill a buzzer-beating three which ultimately proved to be a momentum-killing dagger.

Nearly every single member of 76ers GC managed to score in double figures as Steez, the center, wound up being the only player (five points on 2-of-5 from the field) who failed to hit the mark. Despite scoring 15 points in the opening quarter, Radiant would finish the game with just 23, but his 10 assists ultimately proved critical in the final 18 minutes of the game.
