T-Wolves Gaming secured a 53-39 victory over Grizz Gaming in the first half of Wednesday’s back-to-back during THE TIPOFF powered by AT&T, notching the first win in franchise history. As one of the expansion teams in the NBA 2K League this season, they didn’t show any signs of nerves and controlled the game throughout.
It was all T-Wolves Gaming in the first half, as they kicked off the scoring with an early 5-0 run before Grizz Gaming managed to get into the scoring column. The pace of play was noticeably slow for both teams in the first quarter due to a slew of reaching fouls and turnovers, so both squads appeared to be feeling each other out early. T-Wolves Gaming carried an impressive 28-16 lead into halftime and never really came close to losing it in the second half.
The big story in this one was Grizz Gaming’s inability to shoot the basketball from distance. They began the contest 0-for-5 from three and missed a few easy buckets at the rim, while T-Wolves Gaming moved the ball around the perimeter and found success in nearly all facets of the game. Grizz finally managed to knock down their first shot from beyond the arc with a little over a minute remaining in the first half. Three members of T-Wolves Gaming finished in double figures, including BearDaBeast and and Dr_JoJo_30. Hood led the squad with 15 points on 6-for-13 shooting from the field. Authentic African finished with a team lead in scoring for Grizz Gaming, recording 15 points along with eight rebounds, two assists, a steal and two blocks.
