How does a team win a game? The team with the most points scored at the end of regulation or OT wins the game The first team to 21 points and wins by a difference of 2
How many games does each team play during a tournament? Group Play – BO1

How does a game start? The game starts with a jump ball that occurs at half-court There is no jump ball, and game play will begin with the home team starting out with possession at half-court
How long does a game last? There are 4 quarters

There are 6 minutes in each quarter

Total: 24 minutes of in-game time

No quarters

The first team to 21 points and wins by a difference of 2

Point breakdown Each shot made inside of the arch is awarded two points and each shot made behind the arc is awarded three points Every made shot inside the arc is awarded two points and every successful shot behind the arc is awarded three points
Number of timeouts Each team is given 5 timeouts at the start of each game

At the start of the 4th quarter, if a team has more than 2 timeouts remaining, the timeouts will be reduced to 2 timeouts

Number of pauses/intermissions End of each quarter: 1 minute

End of half-time: 5 minutes

No team/league generates pauses

There are no pauses or intermissions

 

Number of fouls per player 6 fouls; after a player receives their 6th foul, they will receive a technical foul and the opposing player who was fouled will shoot one technical FT and their team will retain possession of the ball 6 fouls; after a player receives their 6th foul, they will be removed from the game and replaced with an AI player.
Types of fouls (include what happens in each scenario) Shot Clock Violation w/missed or no shot attempt – Defense gets ball on sideline

 

Shot Clock Violation w/made shot – Defense gets ball on baseline

 

Reach in foul – Offense gets ball on the sideline or baseline, dependent on where the foul occurs on the court

 

Blocking foul – Offense gets ball on the sideline or baseline, dependent on where the foul occurred on the court

 

Turnovers – Team gets ball at their backcourt sideline

 

Shot Clock Violation w/missed or no shot attempt – Defense gets ball on sideline

 

Shot Clock Violation w/made shot – Defense gets ball on baseline

 

Reach in foul – Offense gets ball at half court or sideline

 

Blocking foul – Offense gets ball at half court or sideline

 

Turnovers – Team gets ball at their backcourt sideline

Number of substitutions As there are 5 players per team, no substitutions can be made in the 5v5 format There are no mid-game substitutions in 3v3

 

Teams are allowed to make substitutions from their roster of 5 players, at the conclusion of each game

 

Amateur teams may not make substitutions

Other game nuances If a shooting foul occurs and the shot DOES NOT go in, the team that was fouled will shoot free throws

 

If a shooting foul occurs and shot DOES go in, the team that was fouled will be awarded the points with no free throw

 

If a non-shooting foul occurs, the team that was fouled will receive the ball at half court

 

After an offensive rebound, the shot clock resets to 14 seconds
