Warriors Squash No. 1 Seed in Playoff Opening Matchup

July 24, 2019

Warriors Gaming Squad opened the postseason in dominant fashion Wednesday with a 67-45 victory over top-seed Blazer5 Gaming in Game 1 of their first-round matchup of the 2K League playoffs.

This game was never in doubt for Warriors Gaming Squad, as despite entering the postseason on a six-game losing streak, they came out Wednesday with the intensity they’ve shown in each of the last two tournaments. They made seven of their first eight attempts from behind the arc, pressured Blazer5 Gaming 94 feet and opened the game on a staggering 23-4 run.

It was clear that by the time the first half was over and with Warriors Gaming Squad up by 24 points, Blazer5 Gaming just didn’t have it in Game 1. More specifically, likely MVP Mama Im Dat Man did not have it, as he didn’t score a single point over the first 12 minutes of the contest.

While Mama Im Dat Man did come out and hit back-to-back threes to open play in the second half and finish the game with 16 points, the hole was already too deep. Blazer5 Gaming didn’t even come close to digging their way out of it either, as they never got it closer than 17 points after Warriors Gaming Squad’s initial run to open the game.

For Warriors Gaming Squad, the game was won on undeniably hot three-point shooting, as the team finished 11-of-22 from behind the arc. Power forward Jin and small forward Bsmoove each were accountable for four of those, as Jin led the way scoring with 20 points with Bsmoove close behind with 18 of his own. And as always, center Type was active from start to finish, ending the game with 12 points, 20 rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocked shots.

Meanwhile, Blazer5 Gaming failed to get into any sort of rhythm Wednesday, and they have their 14 turnovers, seven of which came from Mama Im Dat Man, to thank for that. Other than Mama Im Dat Man, center OneWildWalnut was the only other Blazer5 Gaming player to reach double figures, posting a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds. As a team, Blazer5 Gaming shot just 43.2 percent from the floor.

With the win, Warriors Gaming Squad takes a 1-0 lead in the best of three series.
