Raptors Split Series With Mavs

RotoWire | By Ian Faletti

Week 4 of the NBA 2K League kicked off with an 86-66 win for Raptors Uprising GC in Game 1 before Mavs Gaming took Game 2 77-62, and split the series.

Game 1 was off to a quick start with Raptors Uprising GC going on a five-point run as they continued to rebound after a poor start to the season. Type in particular got off to a good start, picking up three boards in the first minute. The second quarter was more of the same, with Raptors Uprising GC pulling out a 14-point lead on the back of 14 points from ReeceMode. Mavs Gaming saw their offense come much more from a team effort, though Sick One had 10 points at the half. Dimez was surprisingly quiet in the first half, though he did have seven assists as the second half started. Kenny Got Work caught fire in the second half as he stormed towards 20 points, reaching the tally before the fourth quarter. Mavs Gaming worked to close the gap, narrowing it to 11 in the third with Dimez picking up his double-double on 14 points and 11 assists. The fourth quarter was an absolute annihilation from Raptors Uprising GC, as they bumped the lead to 22 behind 34 points from Kenny Got Work. In the end Game 1 ended 86-66 for Raptors Uprising GC.

Dimez ended with 26 points and 12 assists for Mavs Gaming, but was unable to take them over the line, or match the 34 points from Kenny Got Work. ReeceMode added 18 more points in the win, as well as eight assists.

Game 2 was another fast start for Raptors Uprising GC, though this time Mavs Gaming matched them to a 16-16 tally, as Type put up eight points to match Dimez. The second quarter started with Mavs Gaming pulling away, with both Dimez and Sick One heating up, combining for 22 points midway through the second quarter en route to a 30-22 lead. The third quarter was more of the same as Mavs Gaming absolutely tore through a paper-thing Raptors Uprising GC defense, ending with a 10-point advantage heading into the fourth quarter. Raptors Uprising GC went on a decent run in the fourth, but Mavs Gaming matched score for scoring, netting a 77-62 victory.

Dimez’s 38 points proved to be the difference maker in Game 2 as he led his Mavs Gaming team to the comfortable victory, and series split.
