Wizards District Gaming recorded an easy series sweep Friday as point guard JBM couldn’t be contained by Raptors Uprising GC.

In Game 1, Raptors Uprising GC’s point guard Kenny Got Work and JBM battled it out in the first quarter, but JBM ultimately got the best of Kenny Got Work as he led his team to a 22-12 lead, posting eight points and two assists in the first quarter. Kenny Got Work logged eight points with only one assist after the first. Wizards District Gaming’s full-court press proved impressive as they forced a few turnovers early in the second quarter.

The first half ended with Wizards District Gaming going on a run to end the half up 10, 40-30. The biggest difference in the game to that point had been the turnovers, as Raptors Uprising GC had five turnovers which led to fast-break points for Wizards District Gaming. Raptors Uprising GC’s center Type finished the half with a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double, while Wizards District Gaming’s JBM led the game in scoring with 14 points, making 3-of-6 shots attempted from three-point range.

In the second half, power forward xoLebron started to light up the scoreboard to help his team pull ahead with a 49-34 lead. Type intensified the tempo for Raptors Uprising GC thanks to some full-court passes after rebounds which helped his team come back, bringing their deficit to 13 points after the third quarter. Center DayFri also ended up being very impactful for Wizards District Gaming as he finished the third quarter close to a triple-double with 10 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.

The game concluded with Wizards District Gaming going on a run early in the fourth quarter to take a commanding 68-50 lead with four minutes remaining in the game, and Raptors Uprising GC wasn’t able to come back from that deficit. JBM dominated and finished with 28 points and nine assists as Wizards District Gaming took a lopsided 89-70 victory in Game 1.

Game 2 started with a 10-0 run for Wizards District Gaming as they grabbed four steals to score most of their points in transition. Raptors Uprising GC struggled in the first quarter, allowing 27 points and giving the ball away eight times. The quarter concluded with Wizards District Gaming taking a dominant 27-13 lead thanks to a run late in the quarter. JBM took control in the first half, notching 20 points, eight assists and two steals, making 9-of-13 from the field. Wizards District Gaming took a 45-34 lead into the half, only turning the ball over two times compared to Raptors Uprising GC giving up 11 turnovers.

The second half got closer as Raptors Uprising GC were able to cut their deficit to five points with three minutes left in the third quarter. The deficit never got smaller than five again as JBM started to take over in the fourth quarter, finishing the game with 34 points, 13 assists and four steals. Wizards District Gaming ended up winning Game 2 78-62.

Raptors Uprising GC will be facing off with the Hawks Talon GC in Week 2 and Wizards District Gaming will go up against the 76ers GC in some Week 3 action.
