76ers GC Makes a Case for the Playoffs with Big Win

July 12, 2019

76ers GC survived arguably the most seeding-driven matchup of Week 11, knocking off Pacers Gaming by a score of 71-55 on Friday.

76ers GC (10-5) pulled off a critical victory Friday, leap-frogging over Pacers Gaming (8-5) in the standings and all but locking themselves into the playoffs. While their fate isn’t completely set in stone, it was essentially a must-win for 76ers GC if the team had any hopes of making a spirited run come the postseason.

It’s rare in the NBA 2K League to see such an obvious win condition develop throughout the game, but Pacers Gaming’s continual strategy to rely on Ramo essentially hamstrung the unit against a hot-shooting 76ers GC squad. Making 13-of-24 3-pointers compared to just 3-of-8 from behind the line for Pacers Gaming, Philadelphia was essentially able to survive any sort of low-post onslaught from their opposition, boasting an eight or more point lead on three separate occasions throughout the contest.

Point guard Radiant deserves almost all of the credit for the win, as his second-half surge, namely in the third quarter, ultimately powered 76ers GC into a top-five seed as of Friday. The MVP finalist attempted 13 threes throughout the night, connecting on over half of them to finish the game with 30 points, including 14 points in the third quarter alone. While he failed to finish with a double-double, posting just eight assists, he did help nearly his entire team score in the double digits, with a surprising 3-pointer from center Steez almost netting all five Philadelphia player’s with at least 10 points.

On the side of Pacers Gaming, Ramo’s continual heroics appear to be fading, at least from their THE TICKET peak only a couple weeks earlier. While the power forward did score 19 points, he took 19 shots to get to that point and routinely was forced to plod his way to the rim in order to find a basket. Considering the backcourt of Pacers Gaming combined to post just 16 points, it’s possible Pacers Gaming may need to completely alter their strategy if they do make the playoffs come July 24.
