Celtics Demolish Type-less Warriors

June 19, 2019

As soon as the starting lineups were announced for Wednesday’s contest between Warriors Gaming Squad and Celtics Crossover Gaming, it looked like good news for Boston’s playoff hopes. Sure enough, CCG quickly ran away with their first Week 9 win, eviscerating the Warriors by a score of 92 to 44.

It’s a possibility that could rear its ugly head in the coming weeks – after securing a playoff berth with their TICKET, powered by AT&T, championship run, Warriors Gaming Squad (7-6) now has the luxury to experiment with their lineup in the ensuing regular-season contest to come.

It’s also fair to say that this starting five….didn’t work. Removing MVP and Defensive Player of the Year candidate, Type, for Chiquita, and sliding Jin down to center gave way to arguably one of the worst games of the 2019 season, at least in terms of expectations meeting reality.

A whooping 21 turnovers. 15 missed three pointers. A combined 46-17 advantage during quarters two and three. This game got out of hand, and it got out of hand quickly. With such a lopsided advantage, it’s hard to draw the line between bad play from Warriors Gaming Squad and excellent play from Celtics Crossover Gaming (5-5), as oFAB and company seemed to salivate at the obvious lineup miscue.

It’s not as if Warriors Gaming Squad is immune to the prospect of better seeding, but after an 0-2 Week 9, it’s fair to say the back-to-back tournament winners will need to better align their priorities in the ensuing weeks.

On the side of Celtics Crossover Gaming, oFAB, Mel East and ProFusion were able to benefit from the lopsided nature of the game, as the trio connected on 14 of 24 3-pointers, many of which occurred in transition. ProFusion’s 35 points shattered his regular-season high while oFAB nearly leapt to the top of the NBA 2K League scoring leaderboards with his 27-point effort.
