76ers Gaming Club (6-4) took a decisive 50-37 win over Nets Gaming Club (5-5) on Wednesday to kick off Week 8 of the NBA 2K League.

Nets Gaming Club hadn’t played regular season basketball since Week 6, so there was at least some uncertainty as to how they would look coming into this matchup. Tied at 5-4, both teams were in the thick of the battle for playoff positioning, and the Nets thought they had an ace up their sleeve in Lav. Lav’s switch to the Shot-Creating Sharpshooting archetype was talked up as dominant in scrims, though this game would serve as a painful lesson to the first-year Nets that scrim success doesn’t mean much. Lav had possibly the worst game a point guard could have against the 76ers, committing 10 turnovers and scoring just seven points. Without a playmaker to set them up, the rest of the Nets struggled, though center Shockey got himself a 14-point, 12-rebound double-double. When a team commits 23 turnovers in a game and only scores six points in a quarter, it’s easy to guess that they would take home the loss. With the playoffs coming up and the Nets back at .500, expect this experimental build to never see the court in a Nets jersey again.

Don’t look now, but the 76ers have been on fire lately. After taking down Mavs Gaming and handing the number one seed its first loss of the regular season, Radiant showed the world that he is still one of the most dominant players in the world against a flailing Nets side. Scoring 22 points and only coughing up the ball three times, Radiant used this game to reignite his campaign for League MVP. The real heroes for the 76ers, though, were BreadwinnerLA and Steez, who each recorded nine steals, breaking the league record of eight from last year. The fact that BreadwinnerLA did so is understandable, seeing as he got to pick off some of the many passes intended for Shockey, but Steez getting nine turnovers as a center playing perimeter defense is something else. Regardless, as this team continues to roll, the rest of the league should remember to fear the only team to make it to both THE TIP-OFF and THE TURN finals.
