Jazz Gaming used a fourth quarter surge to put away Wizards District Gaming in a 70-59 win on Friday in the NBA 2K League.
While the final score might make it look like this was a one-sided contest, it was very much a back and forth slugfest for the majority of the proceedings. Both teams took turns going on impressive scoring runs that left the ultimate winner very much in doubt until the final quarter.
Wizards District Gaming (3-3) struck first with four quick points in the first quarter, but it wasn’t long before Jazz Gaming (4-2) set off on an 18-6 run to end the quarter. Not to be outdone, however, the Wizards Gaming rattled off a 21-8 run of their own in the second frame to take a 33-30 lead into the half. Leading the way for the Wizards District was none other than Demon JT, who tallied 20 points in the half.
In the second half, however, Jazz Gaming could simply do no wrong as they hit jumper after jumper seemingly at will. While they only put up two triples in the half but made them both during their blistering offensive performance that resulted in a 61 percent second-half field goal percentage. The Big 3 of Yeah I Compete, Tifeworld, and Deedz put up 63 of the Jazz Gaming’s 70 points in the game, showing just how deadly this scrappy Utah Gaming squad can be.
Most telling for the relative downer of a half that the Wizards District had was Demon JT finishing with 26 points after scoring 20 in the first half. If the Wizards want to prevent this from turning into a losing streak, it starts with making sure Demon JT stays involved in the offense at all times.
