76ers GC Withstands Late-Game Surge From Warriors Gaming Squad

June 30, 2018

76ers GC (6-2) withstood a bit of a late charge from Warriors Gaming Squad (1-6), securing a 68-65 win Saturday.

The 76ers GC point guard, Radiant, was as bright as ever Saturday, registering a double-double by halftime. Operating essentially a three-man game alongside power forward iFEAST and center Steez, the first-round pick manipulated every facet of the Philadelphia Gaming offense. Using a plethora of screens at the top of the key, Radiant would deftly dribble around his opposition, providing enough space for either Steez to roll down low, or iFEAST to settle himself near the free throw line for easy buckets. As a result, the two big men finished with a combined 35 points on 17-of-22 shooting, with FEAST in-particular contributing a career-high 19 points. And the few times Radiant opted to drive in the paint himself he was met with little resistance, finishing with 23 points, 15 of which came in the first half.

The margin of victory could very well have been wider had Warriors GS not found a way to rally in the fourth quarter. Outscoring Philadelphia Gaming by eight in the final frame, Golden State Gaming Squad actually had an opportunity to tie the game, but a rushed three-point shot with 0.8 seconds remaining. Seven points from point guard LYKaPRO in the final six minutes helped even the disparity at the position somewhat, but it was still an uncharacteristically poor performance from the guard, who finished with nine points and eight assists on 4-of-8 shooting.

The loss likely means Warriors GS will take part in a play-in game at THE TICKET in two weeks, while there’s an opportunity for 76ers GC to earn the No. 2 seed should they beat Knicks Gaming to begin Week 8’s Saturday slate of games.
