Knicks Gaming Defeat Raptors Uprising, 73-56

June 2, 2018

–RotoWire–

After losing to Kings Guard Gaming by double-digits earlier in the afternoon, Knicks Gaming sent their fans home happy with a 73-56 rout over Raptors Uprising Gaming Club. This loss brought  Raptors Uprising (1-4) back down to reality after their dream-like upset against 76ers Gaming Club last week and stunted their momentum hours before their second match of the week against Blazer5 Gaming.

Knicks Gaming (2-3) looked loose throughout the contest, allowing IdrisDaGoat6, who shifted to power forward for this game, to naturally develop a presence in the paint. At the end of the first half, the hometown squad led Raptors Uprising 35-31 thanks to Idris’ 15 points off 6-of-9 shooting. He eventually ended the game with 27 points and 8 rebounds.

Raptors Uprising star player, Detoxys, scored the first 10 points in the first half, putting up 16 points through 10 minutes. Realizing that he was on pace for a career game, Knicks Gaming locked him down in the second half, only allowing him to score four more points through the game’s final 12 minutes.

Recognizing their hot frontcourt man dropped below freezing, Raptors Uprising had to rely on three-point shooting and a quicker pace of play. That ultimately dug them deeper into their hole, as they ended the game shooting 4-of-16 from deep and allowing 14 total turnovers. Giving their opponent 17 more opportunities to score than they had.

Knicks Gaming’s win put them in a more ideal position for the first Mid Season Tournament, as they no longer have to face one of the top-five teams in the league. Meanwhile, Raptors Uprising’s fate is still unknown after the final whistle blew, because their Mid Season Tournament seed will be decided from the result of their match against Blazer5 Gaming.
