Trailing by 10 points entering the fourth quarter, Celtics Crossover Gaming rallied back to register an overtime 80-68 win.
It was the oFAB show throughout the second half, as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NBA 2K League draft was a critical member of Boston’s fourth quarter rally for the second straight game. The versatile point guard scored over a dozen points in the final 12 minutes, picking up a handful of steals near half court which immediately transitioned into dunks.
There was no shortage of defensive prowess in the pivotal quarter, as Celtics Crossover Gaming (2-0) stole at least four passes just after Toronto crossed half court, quickly capitalizing on the fastbreak baskets and settling up the stifling defense once again. The rinse-and-repeat nature created an obvious momentum shift, as the previously boisterous Raptors Uprising GC (0-2) fell eerily quiet as the Boston rally intensified.
A wide-open missed three pointer by Boston small forward Mel East opened the door for an extra three minutes, but the continual defensive pressure from oFAB and company was too much for Raptors Uprising GC to handle. Star center Yusuf_Scrabz was hurt the most by the defensive aggression, as the swarming wings from Boston forced the third-round pick to miss over a dozen shots after registering a 8-for-9 first half where he tallied 18 points.
It’s a disappointing loss for Toronto, particularly after the demoralizing beatdown at the hands of Mavs Gaming to open Week 1 of the 2K League. They’ll get a chance to rebound next Saturday against Jazz Gaming, while Celtics Crossover Gaming will face off against fellow undefeated team Mavs Gaming to open up next Saturday’s slate.
