76ers GC cruised past Wizards District Gaming in a 93-72 triumph to open the NBA 2K League playoffs.
At the beginning, though, things were close, all things considered. Even with the Wizards running the offense through Boo Painter like always, they were keeping pace with 76ers as best as they could. Before long, though, things began to fall apart.
With a team as high-flying and aggressive as the 76ers, winning is no easy feat. This is even more true when one player is accounting for over 60 percent of your offense. There’s only so much that a team can do without a varied offense. The Wizards managed to keep the deficit at just nine points at the half, but as soon as the 76ers started to get into an offensive rhythm in the second half, it was lights out for the Wizards. The scoring came in droves as the 76ers rained jumpers from all over the court.
Once it was all said and done, the 76ers shot a whopping 65 percent from the field on 37-of-57 shooting, including 10 threes made. Leading the way was Steez (28 points and 10 rebounds) and Radiant (32 points and 13 assists) who put the team on their backs from start to finish. Each player scored at least eight points as the 76ers put on an offensive display that left no room for the Wizards to get anything at all done.
For the Wizards, they bowed out having stuck to their guns the entire way. Boo Painter tallied an impressive 45 points on 21-of-30 shooting and was followed by Demon JT’s 23 points. Beyond that, though, the team was less than stellar. Jin had just three points, ReeseDaGod only managed two points, and xGREATxGILLY13 didn’t get on the board at all. It was a commendable and explosive season from Boo Painter, but the Wizards will need a much deeper offense in Season 2 in order to make a deeper run.
The 76ers will now ride a wave of momentum into the best-of-three semifinals where they will face off against the winner of Friday’s second game between Heat Check Gaming and Pistons GT.
