In the first game in NBA 2K League history, as part of THE TIPOFF, Pistons GT took out Bucks Gaming in a 49-44 contest that went down to the wire. Pistons GT relied on some solid late-game defense and rebounding for the historic victory.
From the opening tip-off, this was an incredibly close game that saw the Bucks and Pistons trade blows until the very end. In the first quarter, it was the Pistons who got an advantage early on the back of some stellar offensive rebounding by JosephTheTruth. Not to be outdone, however, Bucks Gaming took the first quarter in stride and opened up the second with some stifling defense that forced the Pistons into turnover after turnover. This resulted in the Bucks ending the half on a 7-2 run that put them up 29-24.
Even though Bucks Gaming came into the half with a head full of steam, Pistons GT were ever the resilient bunch and didn’t let their opponents get too comfortable. Pistons GT simply relied on the strong rebounding from JosephTheTruth — Pistons GT ended the game with a 29-11 advantage on the boards — to keep things close, and once they were within striking distance, Im So Far Ahead, who finished with a game-high 16 points, started dropping bucket after bucket to get Pistons GT into a rhythm and into the lead once the fourth quarter got underway.
Once the Pistons got the lead, they never relented, as Bucks Gaming tried to shoot their way back into the game but came up short, tossing up jumper after jumper to no avail in the closing moments of the fourth quarter. The fact that Pistons GT picked up this win with only seven points coming from No. 5 pick Lets Get It Ramo shows that this team has plenty of scoring options.
