Celtics Crossover Gaming picked up their second win of Group D at THE TIPOFF, taking out Pacers Gaming in a 70-61 contest.
Much like the Celtics’ game against Grizz Gaming on Thursday night, point guard oFAB was pushing the tempo early and often to keep his team in a nice rhythm. He was dishing out assists with impressive ease, hitting jumpers, and locking down Pacers Gaming point guard, Swizurk, on the defensive end. This allowed the Celtics to keep control of the game throughout most of the first quarter.
Despite Celtics having the advantage early, however, Pacers Gaming didn’t let Celtics Crossover completely run away with the proceedings. Using a multi-faceted offense that saw everyone on the team tally at least four points in the first half, Pacers Gaming managed to inch their way into a 31-30 lead at the half. Shooting four of six from beyond the arc in the first half was the determining factor that put the Pacers up by a hair.
After letting Pacers Gaming dictate a slower pace in the second quarter, Celtics Crossover came out in the third determined to speed things up a bit. As the fastbreak opportunities started rolling in, Celtics Crossover had no problem pulling ahead with a 50-45 lead going into the final frame. At this point, Celtics Crossover cranked the tempo up to 11 and opened the fourth with an 8-4 run that proved to be all they needed to push past the Pacers for good.
The one-two punch of oFAB (27 points and 13 assists) and ARSONALx (18 points and 14 rebounds) was too much for Pacers Gaming to handle, as the pair both tallied double-doubles to lock up this win. While the contributions of those two were key, the true x-factor was MEL EAST putting up 16 points and eight boards that truly turned the tides in their favor to make it 2-0 in Group D.
