Blazer5 Takes Care of Business Against Raptors Uprising GC

June 8, 2018

Blazer5 Gaming knocked Raptors Uprising Gaming down a few pegs with a 72-62 win on Friday to advance to THE TURN quarterfinals.

The Raptors came into this game ready to face off against Blazer5 for the third time this season. During their play-in match earlier in the day, Raptor players were gesturing towards Blazer5, who were sitting in the crowd, letting them know that the rematch was on. While Blazer5 has won both contests thus far, the wins have only come by a combined seven points. As such, conventional wisdom dictated that this would be a tight showdown. Blazer5 Gaming had other plans, however.

Portland wanted to let everyone know that they sit at the top of the standings for a reason. After both teams jawed back and forth while trying to establish a rhythm, it was the Raptors who were silenced after Blazer5 went on a 17-2 run that turned the tide in their favor. Through the halfway point of the second quarter, Blazer5 held the Raptors to 5-of-16 shooting to take full control of the game. While the Raptors might have closed the gap to a respectable 10 points by game’s end, there was no point where it looked as though they had a hope at bringing the game back.

Led by the electric OneWildWalnut, Blazer5 looks like a team ready to get some revenge from their loss at THE TIPOFF and bring home a title this weekend. OneWildWalnut put up a solid double-double with 22 points, 14 boards and six blocks to boot.

Blazer5 Gaming will await the winner of Kings Guard Gaming and Magic Gaming to find out their quarterfinals opponent.
