Wizards District Gaming Complete Weekend Sweep, Beat Magic Gaming 70-65

May 17, 2018

-RotoWire-

Boo Painter, Demon JT and Jin prevented Magic Gaming from earning their first NBA 2K League victory, putting up 58 points combined in Wizards District Gaming’s 70-65 win.

The power forward, Boo Painter, used his rebounding athletic finisher archetype to establish his presence in the paint early in the first quarter, punching through and dunking over a weak Magic Gaming frontcourt to wreak havoc at the rim. Thanks to his big man drawing double-teams, Demon GT had a field day from beyond the arc, going 3-for-3 on three-point attempts and 4-for-4 overall in the first quarter.

By halftime, it was clear that Wizards District Gaming planned to release all sorts of scoring arcana in an attempt to banish Magic Gaming from this realm. They were supernatural through 12 minutes of play, hitting 13 of their first 14 attempts and ending the half with 79 percent shooting from the field.

Orlando showed signs of life at the end of the first half, taking a few turnovers and open looks to only put them down eight points entering the second half. UCManny led his team at the break with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting and three rebounds, scoring a momentum-shifting three-point shot in the second quarter’s final minute.

Although Wizards District Gaming’s scoring machine slowed down in the second half, Magic Gaming could not figure out how to crack their isolation offense. UCManny and marley213s both played well for Orlando, scoring 20 and 18 points respectively, but their efforts were not enough to bring their team up to Washington’s level.

Magic Gaming has yet to find a winning lineup despite having some great talent, but a two game slate in Week 3 should help them sort out this burning and unanswered question. As for Wizards District Gaming, they will take on 76ers Gaming Club for their only Week 3 match.
