Mavs Gaming continue their slide down the NBA 2K standings, losing to Magic Gaming 74-58 on Friday.

Despite having the No. 1 overall pick back in his preferred point guard spot no less, Mavs Gaming’s 16-point loss in this game means that Dallas has now lost five straight regular season games and could very well have played themselves out of a postseason spot.

Kudos to Magic Gaming, however, for locking down what quickly became their game to win in the second half. An inspired performance from the pick-and-roll duo of KontruL (24 points, four assists) and UCMANNy (21 points, two rebounds) helped Orlando further their one-point first half advantage as the duo combined for 23 of the team’s 42 second half points. Still, it’s tough to reconcile Dallas’ demise, as the once vaunted duo of Dimez and Dayfri has underperformed during their losing streak – a fact that Magic Gaming seemed to be aware of this contest.

The rebounding figures were the biggest difference between the teams besides the final score as Orlando outrebounded their opposition 25 to 19, with offensive rebounding being a huge factor during the Magic’s second half push. Second chance scoring opportunities aside, a better defensive gameplan will be a must if Mavs Gaming have any hope of making the playoffs with two weeks left to play.
