Raptors Handle Business Against LA

May 23, 2019

Raptors Uprising GC (3-4) took care of business with a 68-56 win over Lakers Gaming (1-7) in Week 6 action of the NBA 2K League on Thursday.

The first quarter belonged to Raptors Uprising. More specifically, the first quarter belonged to Doza, point guard of the Raptors. He posted 10 points and four assists in the opening stanza, rattling off seven straight points to ignite the Takeover badge. Raptors Uprising led 20-12 after one.

The Raptors kept Lakers Gaming at arm’s length with a 34-23 heading into halftime. The main advantage came from three-point efficiency, as Raptors Uprising went 6-of-10 from distance compared to a 2-of-8 mark by Lakers Gaming in the first half. The Lakers would need to generate stops in the second half, but that’s a difficult proposition without a pure lockdown defender in the lineup.

The Lakers tried chipping away at the lead in the second half. They got within seven points thanks to a three-pointer by Kev in the early minutes of the fourth quarter. However, that’s the closest they would get, as Raptors Uprising found their offensive rhythm to push their way to a 68-56 victory.

Doza had a career-high 28 points to go along with 10 assists. That was easily enough to earn Intel Player of the Game honors. Sick x 973 looked more comfortable in the second game for his new team, posting 21 points and seven rebounds for Raptors Uprising GC.

Mootyy had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds while Detoxys had a team-high 16 points for Lakers Gaming.

With the win, Raptors Uprising split their pair of games in Week 6, losing Wednesday against Blazer5 Gaming.

This was the first matchup of the week for Lakers Gaming, and they will look for redemption against Cavs Legion GC at 7:00 ET on Friday.
