Knicks Gaming Stop Warriors Gaming With Fourth Quarter Surge

May 2, 2018

-Rotowire-

Knicks Gaming held off a furious rally from Warriors Gaming Squad to pick up a 72-67 win on Day 2 of THE TIPOFF.

While Warriors Gaming Squad weren’t the favorites coming into the game and were ultimately beaten, they put the rest of the 2K League on notice by putting up an incredible fight from start to finish. Even with Knicks Gaming playing a fast-paced and loose style that allowed them to control the tempo early and often, the Warriors never stopped grinding. With solid ball movement, the Warriors simply chipped away at the Knicks lead and kept things close at the end of the 39-36 half.

Opening up the second half, both teams traded scoring runs that showcased the strengths of both teams. At least in the third quarter, the up tempo style from Knicks Gaming seemed to be stifled from a renewed Warriors defense. Early in the decisive fourth quarter, the Warriors finally put everything together, led by Vert, who finished with a game-high 30 points, and took the lead for the first time all game.

At this point, however, iamadamthe1st and GOOFY 757 put the Knicks on their back down the stretch to hold off the Warriors. Adam kicked it off with two huge three pointers to keep things tied before GOOFY knocked home one of his own to put his team up 66-63 with two minutes left in the game. That lead proved to be all the team needed as the Warriors couldn’t crawl back in the end. While first-round pick GOOFY showing up big was an expected sight, adam’s performance as the 60th overall pick in the fourth round of the NBA 2K League Draft was a massive boon for the team. His double-double — 20 points and 11 assists — was the difference maker, with 16 of his points coming in the pivotal second half.
