Pistons GT showed off some incredible resiliency in a 62-61 win over Kings Guard Gaming to improve their record to 2-0 in Pool A of THE TIPOFF.
Kings Guard raced out to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter, but the tables turned thanks to a stunning turnaround from Pistons GT’s small forward.
It all started with iiNsaniTTy picking up a few buckets, which got the entire team on a roll that resulted in a 13-2 run to end the first quarter. From then on, things heated up and the teams began trading baskets back and forth. Even with Pistons GT getting back on the horse, however, Kings Guard utilized 12 assists in the first half to take a 29-26 lead into the break.
The third quarter was more of the same, with Kings Guard continuing to regain their swagger and confidence along with a five-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. Even with worthingcolt keeping Kings Guard comfortably ahead, Pistons GT never stopped grinding. That tenacity eventually paid off with a pair of back-to-back 3-pointers from ixsplashkingxi — who had no points to his name in the first half — which propelled the Pistons run.
While ixsplashkingxi set up the comeback, first-round pick Lets Get It Ramo drove the Pistons home with two huge dunks in the final minute that put his team up for good. Kings Guard brought the deficit to a single point with under 30 seconds left, but were unable to execute on an intentional foul in the closing seconds which allowed Pistons GT to snatch away the win. Kings Guard fell to 0-2 with the loss.
