Kings Guard Gaming (3-2) pulled off a monumental victory Friday over Celtics Crossover Gaming (0-3), erasing a six-point deficit in the final minute and a half to claim a 62-60 win over Boston.
Perhaps THE TIPOFF runner-ups just aren’t that good. That’s the question Celtics Crossover Gaming fans have to be asking one another after yet another let down, this time with point guard oFAB back from a one-game suspension. With a 0-3 record, CLTX is now tied for the worst record in the regular season along with Grizz Gaming and Wizards District Gaming, two teams not exactly blessed with a similar type of pedigree and talent as their bottom-dweller brethren.
Certainly Kings Guard Gaming benefitted from some good fortune, as it appeared the team was rewarded with a phantom clear-path penalty with 1:16 remaining, pulling within two points following the made free throws and getting the ball back for another offensive possession. Even in the ensuing play, one in which BallLikeSeem had the ball knocked away near the top of the key, only to recover it and find worthingcolt down low for an easy slam, it was clear the NBA 2K gods weren’t on the Celtics side.
Credit goes to BallLikeSeem, who wound up making the pivotal play in the waning seconds of the contest, maneuvering around just long enough to find an alley-oop pass to worthingcolt to clinch the win. Seem would finish the matchup with a lobby-high 23 points on eight-of-11 from the field to go along with seven assists and three steals
Still, it’s an inexcusable letdown for Celtics Crossover Gaming, particularly after a hard-fought opening to the fourth quarter which gave Boston one of the largest advantages either side saw all evening. Returning from his aforementioned suspension, oFAB put together a resounding performance, finishing the loss with 19 points (8-11 FG), 16 assists and one steal while ProFusion put together his usual line (17 points, 7-14 FG). But the rest of the supporting cast failed to make a significant difference, with NO xAUTOGRAPHSx in particular failing to make a notable difference on the glass (14 points, eight rebounds).
