Cavs Legion GC closed out their Week 2 with a 78-63 win over Kings Guard Gaming on Saturday in the NBA 2K League.
After having a rough start to the season, losing their first game to Jazz Gaming (2-1) last week, Cavs Legion (3-1) have turned things around in a hurry. Building on their win earlier in the day against Grizz Gaming (1-1), the team looked even better in this outing. They came out of the gate firing on all cylinders, knocking down big shots and seemingly never stopping all game long.
While their earlier win was the Sick x 973 show, this time Godddof2k put his hat in the ring on the offensive side of the ball to help Cleveland easily handle this Kings squad. Throughout the first half, Kings Guard (1-1) seemed to have no answer at all for Godddof2k as he racked up 16 points to give the Cavs a 34-29 lead at the half. The only thread keeping Kings Guard together in that first half was Cowboy Collazo, who put up 15 points of his own in the first half.
Despite keeping things somewhat close in the first half, Kings Guard just about fell by the wayside to start the second half as Cavs Legion blew their lead wide open. While the Kings got the deficit down to 38-37, the Cavs proceeded to go on a 12-2 run over the next couple minutes to take full control over the contest. Whether it was Sick or Godddof2k throwing it down, there was nothing Kings Guard could do defensively to stymie the tide. They tried to rely on the three to get them back into it, shooting 7-of-10 through the opening minute of the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t long before the Cavs duo asserted their dominance once again. The pair combined for 60 of the team’s 78 points in this series as the Cavs proved for the second time today that it can win without star point guard, Hood.
All eyes will now turn to the Cavs and their matchup with Pacers Gaming at 9 p.m. ET on Friday to see whether Hood will return to the lineup, while Kings Guard will next take on Grizz Gaming at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday.
