Mavs Gaming played an incredibly balanced game, picking up an 80-61 win over Heat Check Gaming to open up Group D of THE TIPOFF.
There was plenty of hype coming into this one, as it would see the debut of No. 1 overall pick, Dimez, for Mavs Gaming. Once the game got underway, it was clear that the highly touted point guard lived up to the hype. Throughout the entire game, he was dishing out assist after assist, ending the game with an NBA 2K League record 19. The main recipient of the dimes was Dayfri, who showed off with a massive double-double, accumulating 36 points and 10 rebounds. Once this team got rolling, there was simply no stopping them.
Despite the final score, however, the game started off close enough. Heat Check center Hotshot was dominating the paint early. This, combined with some nice solid outside shooting, allowed Heat Check to end the first quarter down just two points 18-16. From then on, though, it was all Mavs. The team locked down on defense, ending up with 13 steals and forcing a total of 15 turnovers, to completely take over the game. This led to a 24-point second quarter from Mavs Gaming to put them up 42-31 at the half.
Heat Check Gaming tried to shoot their way back into the game, but the defense of Mavs Gaming was too strong.
Mavs Gaming shot an incredible 35 of 48 from the field and six of eight from three for an overall field goal percentage of 73 percent.
