Heat Check Gaming Pile on Points in Quarterfinal Win

April 6, 2019

By RotoWire

Despite surprisingly advancing out of arguably the most difficult group at THE TIPOFF, powered by AT&T, Bucks Gaming’s miracle run ended in the quarterfinals at the hands of Heat Check Gaming, who claimed a 67-53 win.

The game wasn’t really as close as the score might indicate, which isn’t saying very much given Milwaukee lost by 14. Bucks Gaming trailed by eight points at the end of the first quarter, and the deficit only seemed to balloon as the game progressed.

Every single member of Heat Check Gaming scored in the opening frame, so it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to hear all but one player scored 10 or more points by the end of the game. 24K Dropoff was the lone player to score less than 10 (seven points on 3-of-7 from the field), but even in that situation, the power forward played a pivotal defensive role shutting down his opposition, BigMeek, who dominated in his two pool play games.

11-of-19 from three-point land ultimately ended up being the critical difference maker for Heat Check Gaming, as the team was on fire all afternoon, shooting just over 65 percent from the field overall.

On the side of Bucks Gaming, point guard chaddynick struggled to replicate his pool play impact, scoring just eight points on 3-of-10 from the field and committing six turnovers in the process. With chaddynick contained throughout, ARooks and SlayIsIsland failed to make much of an impact on the offensive end, with just BigMeek and Plondo acting as Milwaukee’s main offensive threats. And in the case of the former, BigMeek’s 21 points essentially came from broken plays, in particular offensive rebounds, in which a simple kick-out opened up a three point opportunity.
