76ers Squeak by For Win Against Heat Check Gaming

May 24, 2019

76ers Gaming (4-3) picked up a dramatic 60-59 win over Heat Check Gaming (4-5) on Friday during Week 6 of the NBA 2K League.

76ers Gaming was already at risk of dropping from sixth to tied for 12th after losing to Warriors Gaming earlier in the night, making this a must-win. When it came down to the wire, the 76ers pulled through thanks to a tough driving layup made by Newdini33, but it took the entire team to get to that point. Point guard Radiant continued to make his case for league MVP with a crazy performance against a tough Heat Check defense, scoring 21 points and picking up nine assists along with Player of the Game honors. The real star of the show, though, was ZDS, who scored 14 points on five-of-eight shooting, four-of-six from three, while providing lockdown defense on Hood. After only scoring seven points in the first quarter, 76ers Gaming outscored Heat Check in the following three quarters. Sure, things got very tight at the end thanks to the Heat’s hot streak but the 76ers proved they could step up in the moment and secured a huge win at the buzzer, giving this team all kinds of momentum and confidence heading into a matchup against Mavs Gaming next Friday.

Heat Check Gaming fought until the bitter end, but fall below .500 yet again after losing three in a row. Things looked good early on, trading shot-for-shot with the 76ers behind |24k Dropoff |, who swapped to small forward, and his team-high 17 points, shooting 7-of-13 from the field. New addition Hood, however, struggled. He put up a 10-point, 11-assist double-double, sure, but he shot three-of-12, 25 percent, from the field and turned the ball over a dismal seven times. In what could’ve been a statement game for Hood against an MVP caliber point guard in Radiant, he fell well short of his opposition while the rest of his team did their part. Center Hotshot scored 13 and picked up 18 rebounds for his own double-double along with five assists and four steals while only giving up two turnovers. If Hood continues to struggle like this against formidable opponents, what will the Heat do moving forward after trading for him? Fortunately for the Heat, they don’t play again until Week 8, so they have time to get themselves together for a potential last-minute playoff push.
