Shaking off the league’s worst blown lead in the 2K League’s short history, Celtics Crossover Gaming won their last Pool D game 90-75 over Heat Check Gaming thanks to oFAB besting his own 2K League assist record by dishing 26 dimes. Miami had nothing but pride on the line for this game, as they were virtually out of the TIPOFF playoff picture due to their earlier losses.
In the first half, Heat Check Gaming was on fire from the field — shooting 82 percent in the first quarter and only dropping to 77 percent by halftime. Hotshot was true to his name, leading his team with 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting. Unfortunately, only one of these made shots happened past the three-point line, and the Heat’s hot hands made them play hot potato with seven total turnovers.
That poor handling gave Celtics Crossover Gaming enough opportunities to lead 45-38 at halftime and allowed oFAB to outpace the 2K League assists record he set Thursday against Grizz Gaming. With Profusion and MEL East draining threes and ARSONAL x dominating down low, oFAB dished out 14 assists in 12 minutes.
In the second half, oFAB doled out one assist per minute, ending the contest with the new 2K League single game record. ARSONAL x’s change jar was loaded with oFAB’s dimes, using his teammate’s stellar passing to hit a double-double with 27 points and 14 assists on 13-of-18 shooting.
Heat Check Gaming ended the game with their own 2K League record… in turnovers. Giving up the ball 16 times in 24 minutes, it was certainly a performance to forget for Miami.
