oFAB Explodes for 36 Points in Win

May 23, 2019

Well that’s more like it. The team that could do no wrong during tournaments finally came to play in the regular season, as Celtics Crossover Gaming (2-5) picked up a critical win against Heat Check Gaming ( 4-4) by a score of 86-63 to begin Thursday’s Week 6 action.

It remains to be seen if the Celtics can string together a bevy of positive games, but at least for one matchup Thursday, Boston played like the team you’d expect to make consecutive quarterfinals of the respective 2019 tournaments.

oFAB essentially began and ended the game for Celtics Crossover Gaming, as the star point guard scored Boston’s first seven points en route to a stunning 21 first-half points. The second-year guard piled on another 15 points in the second half, including eight while the game was still within spitting distance, to ice out a Heat Check Gaming squad that appeared eager to challenge the pivotal guard.

The lopsided score likely undercuts what was a competitive game through the first half and even parts of the third, but a 21-9 run in quarter number three effectively gave Celtics Crossover Gaming enough breathing room to fully blowout the team from South Beach.

Boston padded the stats of Bulleyy (15 points, 10 of which occurred in the fourth quarter) and Mel East (13 points, five coming in the fourth) late, but perhaps more crucially to the team’s future success, small forward ProFusion finally started to awake from his multi-game slumber, piling together 20 points on 6-of-11 from the field, and more importantly, five-of-nine from deep.

It’s clear Heat Check Gaming still have some kinks to work out, as the new addition, Hood, has posted a combined 16 points in his past two games after a rousing 24-point debut in Week 5 against Cavs Legion GC. Hood’s struggles were most notable, in large part for his failure to corral oFAB, but his five turnovers will likely be overlooked next to the struggles of his frontcourt members, I 24K Dropoff I and Hotshot, who managed to commit 10 turnovers, including eight in the second half.
