Celtics Crossover Gaming showed off some great ball movement in a 74-62 win over Grizz Gaming to close out Thursday’s action at THE TIPOFF.
Group D continues to be a showcase of first-round points guards, as oFAB followed Dimez’s lead from the preceding game with an assist-heavy performance that led Celtics Crossover to the win. While Grizz Gaming may have only lost by 12 points, the Celtics’ lead was as many as 22 points at one point. From the very start, Celtics Crossover pushed the tempo on both sides of the court to keep Grizz Gaming on their heels.
That being said, the first half was a fairly close affair, as center AuthenticAfrican put up 13 points and four boards on six of 10 shooting to keep the Grizz within four points going into the break. For as close as the first half was, however, the Celtics absolutely exploded in the third quarter, showing off just how dangerous this team can be if they get into a rhythm.
oFAB, who broke the NBA 2K League assist record that was just set by Dimez in the previous game, and his 23 assists led Celtics Crossover to an incredible 30-12 third quarter that put the game too far out of reach for the Grizz. While oFAB was dishing out assists, center ARSONALx was dominating the paint to the tune of a 30 point, 16 rebound double-double that left little room for the Grizz to maneuver and eventually led to the solid opening win for Celtics Crossover.
The Grizz made a run in the fourth quarter to drop the deficit to single digits before Celtics Crossover sealed the deal with a couple late-game daggers. Despite the loss, Grizz can hang their hat on the solid double-doubles put up by AuthenticAfrican (31 points and 10 boards) and THREAT (14 points and 12 assists) that almost led to an incredible comeback.
