oLarry and Cavs Legion Secure First Win

By RotoWire

Cavs Legion GC power forward oLarry made his triumphant return to the 2K League in style, leading his team to a 59-47 win over Raptors Uprising GC on Tuesday in The TIP OFF powered by AT&T.

Coming off a clinical win over Mavs Gaming GC, Raptors seemed poised to ruin Cavs Legion GC’s 2019 season debut. Rookie small forward Strainer, though, got the Legion off to a hot start, finishing the first quarter with eight points. The Uprising could do little offensively as the Legion sprinted ahead to a 23-8 lead at the end of the first. Raptors attempted to shut Strainer down with its unique double-pure lockdown build, with second-round pick OOC Slim and Kenny Got Work on defensive duties, but Cavs found ways to get other guys open. oLarry took off in the second quarter, scoring from the paint and giving his team a lead that would never be in jeopardy. What’s more, shooting guard GODDDOF2K was a wall defensively, forcing eight steals on point guard and former Piston Doza.

Raptors Uprising slumped early but managed to pick up some tournament points in the second half. Kenny Got Work showed up big down the stretch, getting himself into good positions to finish with 15 points. Meanwhile, power forward All Hail Trey pitched in 15 points of his own along with three blocks to keep the floodgates from opening late in the game. Despite these efforts, though, Raptors’ archetype composition meant that the team couldn’t win in a three-point shootout against the Cavs, and the Uprising was forced to settle for uncontested dunks while Cavs camped the perimeter. oLarry did his part to pick up buckets on the offensive end to close the game out, picking up Player of the Game honors. With his fans across the globe and a loud studio audience, oLarry shined as he led the new-look Cavs to its first win of 2019.

The Raptors winning two quarters gives it two more points as it finishes group play with 10, which is a solid-looking score to beat. With the win, Cavs Legion takes six points into its second group matchup against Mavs Gaming GC.
