As the NBA 2K League regular season nears its final week, Celtics Crossover Gaming (7-6) staked their claim in the wild race for postseason glory with a 74-61 win against Cavs Legion GC.

Fans who expected this to be the oFAB and Hood show were disappointed in the first half, with both players getting off to a rough start. While oFAB’s struggles left him with an average statline – four turnovers was not bad with six assists – Hood was choked out by the Celtics defense, as he could only make 2-of-8 from the field in an off 4-point first half performance.

After a tough opening quarter for both teams, the Celtics started to pull away on a 24-14 run to end the first half. MEL EAST and ARS0NAL x dropped 26 out of the Celtics 33 points, hitting 11-of-12 from the field in an impressive 12 minutes of basketball.

From there, Boston fought off a Cleveland advance in the third quarter before throwing on cruise control and keeping them comfortably at bay. PalmOilPlease, the Celtics’ sixth-round draft pick who stepped up to the starting lineup for the night, showed up in the second half, helping his team with 12 points, four rebounds and three blocks. oFAB started to find his groove here as well, dishing out most of his 13 assists and ending the game with 24 points.

With the loss, the Cavs are in danger of potentially losing out of the playoffs, but can stabilize themselves if they can overcome Magic Gaming next week at high noon. Meanwhile, the Celtics will look to clinch their place in the playoffs with their own game against the Magic later that day.
