In a contrast to what we’ve seen from both teams thus far in the NBA 2K League, Knicks Gaming survived an intense offensive affair against Bucks Gaming of all teams to claim a 90-81 win to kickstart Week 10.
Offensive rebounding was the key for both teams as Knicks Gaming continued to stay ahead of their opposition thanks to a litany of second chance points. Particularly in the fourth quarter with Bucks Gaming threatening a rally, Knicks Gaming’s bigs seemed to come up with a handful of second chance opportunities to keep Milwaukee at bay. The deficit only began to expand in late in the fourth quarter as multiple rushed shots from Bucks Gaming yielded easy fast break buckets.
Of course, G O O F Y 757’s 40 points and 13 rebounds didn’t hurt matters either, as the star Knicks Gaming player flexed his offensive muscles. In the first half alone, GOOFY tallied 22 points making all 11 of his shots, finishing the contest with only one missed field goal attempt (20-of-21). Surprisingly, all 10 members who took the court registered a bucket by the end of the first quarter, but only one other player from Knicks Gaming would go on to score in double figures. Yes, Iamadamthe1st scored the second most points on Knicks Gaming, but it was also the next most points in the lobby as the point guard was almost automatic from downtown draining five three pointers en route to a 27-point, 16-assist double-double.
The loss all but eliminates Bucks Gaming from the playoffs, but the team from Milwaukee can take pride in their balanced offense which saw four of their five members score in double figures. Of those, three actually tallied 15+ points, a fact that would have looked even more appealing had they managed to sneak away with a win. Game6Drake’s monster double-double, which saw the point guard tally 23 points and 20 assists, also shouldn’t be ignored, even with the disappointing result.
