The NBA 2K League TIPOFF Champion 76ers Gaming Club (1-0) picked up where they left off, beating Bucks Gaming (0-1) to open the regular season. Shooting 11-for-20 from deep, 76ers GC outpaced the methodical Bucks Gaming offense by rallying behind sixth-round draft pick ZDS to earn their first regular season victory.
Both teams struggled to find the basket in the opening minutes until ZDS broke open the scoring for 76ers GC, dialing in a pair of threes to help his team score 17 points in the first. 76ers GC almost led by six at the end of the opening frame, but a half-court inbound pass from BigMeek in the final three seconds found King Peroxide under the basket to make it 17-13.
King Peroxide had his name called all night for Bucks Gaming, taking advantage of his mismatch to tally up 24 points on 12-of-15 shooting by halftime, finishing with a game-high 41 points.
However, the 76ers GC demonstrated their gameplan, welcoming him into the paint knowing that his inside scoring would not keep up with their shooting from distance. By halftime, Philadelphia led 41-31, with ZDS nailing four out his five tries from distance.
76ers Gaming Club kept Bucks Gaming at arm’s-length in the second half, only allowing them to post a one-point advantage through the final 12 minutes. ZDS finished with 27 points on 6-of-8 three-point shooting, continuing to make his case as the biggest steal out of the inaugural NBA 2K League Draft.
Bucks Gaming will search for their first win next week against Pistons GT, while the 76ers Gaming Club will face off against Mavs Gaming.
