Blazer5 Gaming (1-0) took advantatage of Magic Gaming’s (0-1) 11 fouls and 13 turnovers to win their Week 1 contest 81-72.

After a disappointing winless weekend at the NBA 2K League TIPOFF Tournament, Magic Gaming went shot-for-shot with the tournament’s runner-up in the first half. Magic Gaming was only down by two at halftime, despite Blazer5 Gaming’s GRANT MONSTER and Dat Boy Shotz combining for 26 out of the team’s 43 points.

One move that gave Magic Gaming an edge in the first half was making NachoTraynor a shot-creating sharpshooter shooting guard. He did not perform as well with his position during the TIPOFF, and in his first half with the switch, he dropped 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting.

His backcourt companion KontruL also shot well in the first, posting 13 points and six assists in 12 minutes. KontruL would finish the game with 23 points, nine assists and three rebounds.

Blazer5 Gaming adjusted to Magic Gaming’s play in the second half, locking them down on defense while continuing to feed their big three of Mama Im Dat Man, GRANT MONSTER and Dat Boy Shotz. Mama Im Dat Man posted a double-double with 18 points and 14 assists, GRANT MONSTER lit up downtown on 5-for-7 shooting and Dat Boy Shotz led his peers in scoring and rebounding with 25 points and nine rebounds.

OneWildWalnut could not find as many scoring opportunities in this game as he did in the TIPOFF Tournament, only scoring 13 points.

Magic Gaming will search for their first NBA 2K League win next week when they take on Wizards District Gaming next Saturday (5/19).
