Blazer5 Gaming fought off the scrappy sharpshooters of the 76ers Gaming Club, taking advantage of their size to dominant the paint, control the rebounding battle, and focus high percentage shots for the 81-68 win. Feeding his big men Dat Boy Shotz and OneWildWalnut, Mama Im Dat Man doled out a NBA 2K League record 17 assists and 17 points of his own in an outstanding game at the point.
76ers Gaming Club, a team touted for its shooting prowess on draft day, struggled from beyond the arc in the first quarter, missing their first three shots from downtown and giving up a 10-2 run to Blazer5 Gaming. One wide open three-pointer from Radiant allowed the 76ers Gaming Club to snap out of their shooting woes and bring the game to a single possession by the end of the first.
On Blazer5 Gaming, Dat Boy Shotz and OneWildWalnut settled into the paint early, combining for 25 points and eight rebounds in the first two quarters and giving Portland a halftime lead of 36-33 the hard way. Dat Boy Shotz settled for 23 points and 8 rebounds at the end of the game, while OneWildWalnut celebrated his 19th birthday with 23 points, 11 boards and three steals.
Neither team changed their strategy for the second half; the 76ers Gaming Club kept chucking up long shots, while Blazer5 Gaming continued to push around their opponents inside, preventing them from earning any easy layups with big blocks. GRANT MONSTER realized the space given to him by his big men and decided to throw in two ice-cold triples at the end of the third to give his team a strong 57-44 lead. He finished the game with 12 points on his only four attempts from three-point range.
Coupled with their dangerous love for three-point shots, the 76ers Gaming Club gave up 11 fouls and seven turnovers. This comes with the nature of a run-and-gun offense playing from behind, and should not be the norm if they can get shots to fall early in future contests.
