76ers GC Makes it a 2-0 Sweep, Advances

July 25, 2019

76ers Gaming Club (11-5) closed out a dominant 2-0 sweep of Pacers Gaming (10-6) with a 69-55 win on Thursday in the first round of the NBA 2K League Finals.

After taking a win in a close Game 1, the third-seeded 76ers wasted little time pulling ahead in Game 2 with Newdini33 stealing the first pass of the game and Radiant draining a three to start the game. From the opening tip the 76ers dominated the first quarter; each player on the 76ers had at least scored a bucket before three minutes had passed. It wasn’t just the offense that was rocking, though, as the defense forced the Pacers into eight turnovers in the first quarter. After taking the opening frame 24-8, the 76ers continued to build on its lead, finding consistent buckets from Radiant, who finished with a 28-point, 13-assist double-double. Newdini33 finished with 14 points, Steez had 13 points and 12 rebounds, and the team only committed five turnovers all game. Sure, the win could’ve been cleaner: BreadwinnerLA had four steals but missed a couple of open shots that could’ve further padded the lead, and ZDS only had 10 points on four-of-eight shooting, but these are minor nitpicks. The way the 76ers decimated the Pacers should serve as a message to the rest of the remaining teams in the playoffs: it’s Radiant and the 76ers time to shine.

The Pacers tried everything they had to take out the 76ers, but it wasn’t enough. Swapping Swizurk to a pure sharpshooting shooting guard and WoLF 74 on a slashing defender small forward had worked in the recent past, but this left the Pacers without a secondary ball-handler that could compete with Newdini33 and BreadwinnerLA’s pressure. Ramo showed real leadership throughout the game, leading the team with 18 points on eight-of-13 shooting and imploring his team to show some heart. After getting rocked in the first quarter, the Pacers would go on to win the second and fourth quarters, but simply couldn’t score enough or stop the 76ers to prevent a flood. WoLF 74 in particular looked shaken, letting MVP-candidate Radiant do whatever he pleased practically all game. When your team leader, Swizurk, only has 12 points on seven attempted shots, it’s a bad look all around. Ramo might’ve pleaded for his team to “not let our season end like this”, but the Pacers still crashed out of the playoffs in disheartening fashion.
