76ers GC Loss Sets Up NetsGC

August 7, 2020

RotoWire – Juan Pablo Aravena

The 76ers GC did NetsGC a huge favor, as their loss against the Wizards Dristict Gaming gave them a spot in the playoffs while also clinching the 10th seed for the T-Wolves Gaming.

The three-game series was not as tight as one would have imagined, though. The Wizards won by double digits in both of their wins, while the 76ers came away with a four-point win during Game 2 in a contest where both sides went back and forth during the whole contest.

The Wizards mounted a huge comeback in Game 1, as the 76ers built a four-point lead at the break only to score 17 points during the entire second half, essentially ending their chances of earning the win. The Wizards took advantage of that and won the final two quarters by expressive margins (19-9 and 15-8, respectively) en route to a comfortable victory 64-51 victory.

JBM (19 points and seven assists) and Newdini (17 points, five steals) paced the Wizards in Game 1, while Dayfri posted a 16-point, 13-rebound double-double. Radiant led the way for the 76ers in this low-scoring affair, as he ended with 19 points and eight assists, while Steez chipped in with 14 points. No other 76er scored more than 10 points.

The 76ers took control early in Game 2, though, as they built a 20-16 lead after the first. The Wizards made it a one-point game after an 18-15 second quarter, and the second half was even tighter. The 76ers came on top in the final two quarters, however, winning both frames 21-10 and 15-13, respectively. The result was the 76ers evening things up with a 71-67 Game 2 win.

Radiant was the biggest star for the 76ers in this win, as he finished with 46 points while making 18 of his 24 field-goal attempts. BreadwinnerLA chipped in with six points, 10 rebounds, four assists, three steals, and two blocks. JBM (23 points) and Newdini (20 points) led the Wizards, but the backcourt tandem couldn’t complete the second-half comeback.

The Wizards were determined to win Game 3, and they kicked things off with a different mindset — that allowed them to win the first quarter by two points, and they would never lose control of the game. Indeed, the Wizards won all four quarters individually, highlighted by a 24-17 fourth-quarter score that pulled the game away for good. With a 75-60 win, the Wizards earned a 2-1 series win.

JBM came through when it mattered the most for the Wizards, delivering a 31-point, six-assist effort in Game 3. Dayfri also chipped in with a strong performance, as he contributed 30 points, 14 boards, seven assists and five blocks. Radiant led the 76ers with 20 points and eight assists, while Steez posted 10 points while shooting 4-for-6 from the field. Meanwhile, BreadwinnerLA posted 15 points and 10 boards.
