T-Wolves Gaming capped off an impressive Week 8 on Friday night with a 69-60 victory over Jazz Gaming in the 2K League.
In the early goings, it looked like T-Wolves Gaming (5-6), who are coming off a dominant 84-41 win over Hawks Talon GC on Thursday, was going to pick up right where they left off. On the back of point guard BearDaBeast, they got off to a very hot start offensively, scoring 20 points in the first quarter and opening up a double-digit lead in the first half.
Jazz Gaming (4-4), however, wasn’t going to bow out so easily and took advantage of some lackluster interior defense from T-Wolves Gaming to keep things close. After chipping the deficit away and going into halftime down just two points, Jazz Gaming rode that momentum into the third quarter, where they ultimately opened up a lead as large as five.
Now, it was T-Wolves Gaming’s turn to respond, and their response would end up being the final one. A buzzer-beating three-pointer from center JoJo put T-Wolves Gaming back up one heading into the final quarter, and their lead just grew from that point, as they outscored their opponent 15-7 over the final six minutes to cap off a 2-0 Week 8.
After a dominant first half from BearDaBeast where he scored 19 points, the point guard finished with just 23 for the game, but those four second-half points were crucial, as they took T-Wolves Gaming’s lead from just three to seven in the final minute of the game. He also dished out 11 assists, many of which were to small forward JMoneyRep817, who scored 22 points on nine-of-14 shooting. JoJo added 17 points of his own to go along with nine rebounds.
As a team, T-Wolves Gaming was absolutely lethal from behind the arc, shooting a scorching 10-of-13 from deep.
For Jazz Gaming, they were carried by their frontcourt trio, but the way they struggled down the stretch cost them Friday’s game. Small forward MOAM was the team’s top scorer with 19 points, while center Ria added a double-double with 18 points on nine-of-10 shooting and 13 rebounds. Power forward KevDontMiss was the third and final player to reach double figures with 14 points.
