76ers Hand Mavs First Loss

May 31, 2019

76ers GC (5-4) took down Mavs Gaming (10-1) by a score of 74-68 Friday night in the final matchup of Week 7. The Mavs took care of Kings Guard Gaming earlier in the night, but they weren’t able to handle the Sixers’ offensive attack. 76ers GC was able to salvage their week with a stunning victory, finishing the week at 1-1.

The Sixers started the scoring in this one with a corner three, and they forced a turnover on the opposite end during the Mavs’ first possession of the ballgame. An alley-oop and a layup to make the score 7-0 gave 76ers GC the early momentum. It didn’t take long for the Mavs to come storming back, however, as they drained a couple of quick buckets to cut the deficit to two. Mavs Gaming tied the game at nine with three minutes to play in quarter No. 1. The 76ers made it known early that they came to play, establishing a 19-11 advantage at the end of one. ZDS and BreadwinnerLA were the keys for the Sixers in the first period.

Dimez hit a clutch three to open up the second stanza and cut the deficit to three points, and PeteBeBallin slammed home a dunk to make this a one-point contest. The Mavs managed to capture the lead with a minute left in the half and went into the break up 32-29 with the help of a 21-10 second quarter. Dimez led the way with 15 for Mavs Gaming in the first half, while ZDS put up 13 for the Sixers.

This game continued to consist of timely runs in the second half, and 76ers GC was the beneficiary of an early third-quarter push, retaking the lead with a ZDS triple. He poured in 29 points through three quarters of action, propelling the Sixers to a 51-47 lead heading into the final six minutes.

After being held to just four points coming into the final stanza, Gradient knocked down a trey within the first minute of the fourth quarter to give his squad some breathing room. He hit another timely three with over three minutes to go, increasing the lead to nine points. The Sixers managed to close out a dominant fourth quarter and secure a 74-68 victory, handing the Mavs their first regular-season loss of the season.

ZDS fell just one point shy of tying the single-game scoring record, finishing with 39 points on 15-for-25 from the field (9-for-17 from three). Radiant came alive late in the contest and registered 15 points to go along with 14 assists and a steal. Dimez led his squad with 23 points and seven assists, while PeteBeBallin tallied 22 points and 15 boards in the loss.
