Mavs Gaming Cap off Historic Day with Blowout Win

May 22, 2019

Mavs Gaming (9-0) bludgeoned Pistons GT (1-8) by a score of 81-59 to conclude Wednesday’s Week 6 action of the NBA 2K League.

The Mavs extend their regular season unbeaten streak to nine games, which is an NBA 2K League record to begin the season. Blazer5 rattled off seven straight in 2018, but the Mavs took sole possession of that record with a pair of wins Wednesday.

Mavs Gaming looked like the better side from the tip-off, where they started the contest with a 6-0 run. The Mavs didn’t let up from there, scoring eight of the final 10 first quarter points to take the 22-11 advantage after one stanza. Every Mavs’ player was in the scoring column, including Sherm with six first quarter points exclusively via fastbreak dunks.

Pistons GT would need to get something going quickly in order to stay competitive. That didn’t happen, as Mavs Gaming kept their foot on the gas pedal while winning the second quarter by a 21-12 margin. That made the score 43-23 at halftime with Rux chipping in a notable 15 points at the intermission.

In the second half, the lead never dropped below 19 points for Mavs Gaming as they ultimately cruised to an easy wire-to-wire victory with a final score of 81-59.

Mo was named Intel Player of the Game with a career-high 37 points in the blowout. Rux added 20 points and six rebounds for Mavs Gaming, while Sherm tied the NBA 2K League single-game record with eight steals. Dimez had only two points (1-of-1 shooting) to go along with 10 assists in this one, as Mo and Rux did the heavy lifting from the perimeter. PeteBeBallin had his seventh double-double on the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Joseph led the way with 14 points for Pistons GT, while May had 10 points and 15 rebounds in the losing effort.
