Reeling from two big losses to Raptors Uprising GC in the opening series of the night, Blazer5 Gaming attempted to improve its record in pool play against the Gen.G Tigers on Day 2 of THE TIPOFF, powered by AT&T.

Game 1 started out poorly for Blazer5 Gaming, as the Gen.G Tigers led 27-18 after the first quarter. An 18-17 second-quarter advantage pushed the lead to 45-35 at the break. Blazer5 Gaming made up some ground in the third quarter, cutting the lead to single digits and trailing 67-59 heading into the final frame. From there, it was a Gen.G eruption to close out the game. Up by as many as 18 in the fourth quarter, the Tigers won the game 95-80 as Blazer5 Gaming suffered its third loss in a row in pool play. All of Gen.G’s starters finished in double figures, highlighted by 31 points from Gen, 13 points and 17 assists from ShiftyKaii, and 14 points and 18 rebounds from Deadeye. Mama Im Dat Man led all scorers with 34 points, though his big game was not enough to claim victory. OneWildWalnut posted 19 points, 10 rebounds and six assists, while MaJes7ic chipped in 16.

Game 2 began with more strong play from Gen.G, and the team took a 20-16 lead into the second quarter. TURNUPDEFENSE went off for 13 points in the opening frame, draining three triples in the process. Gen.G started the second quarter with a big run, but Blazer5 Gaming cut the lead to two possessions before Gen.G responded again. The Tigers led 44-33 at half, as TURNUPDEFENSE posted 16 points, ShiftyKaii notched seven points and eight assists and Deadeye double-doubled with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Gen. G Tigers won the second half by a commanding 50-36 margin to claim a 94-69 victory and win both of its first two games of pool play. Deadeye crashed the glass and muscled his way to a 22-point, 23-rebound double-double. ShiftyKaii went for 18 points and 16 assists, TURNUPDEFENSE went for 25 and Gen managed 21 to round out a deadly attack in Game 2. Mama Im Dat Man led Blazer5 Gaming with 34 and OneWildWalnut provided 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Gen. G takes a 2-0 record into its two-game series against Lakers Gaming in the final game of Day 2 to finish our pool play. Blazer5 Gaming ends the night with an 0-4 record.
