The NBA 2K League drama continued with 76ers GC holding on for a nail-biting 63-61 victory over Heat Check Gaming.
76ers GC set the tempo by winning the first quarter 19-14. ZDS came out firing with a pair of threes to get the 76ers started early on. However, Heat Check Gaming responded with a second quarter surge in large part thanks to HotShot, who helped put Miami within four to end the first half.
Things really took off in the second half, as Heat Check Gaming went on to win the third quarter by another razor-thin margin. The 76ers were still leading by a score of 49-46 at that point in time, but Heat Check Gaming climbed back into the game while trying to take command of the lead.
76ers GC went on a 12-6 run to begin the fourth quarter, with eight of those points coming from Radiant. The game seemed well in hand at that point, as the 76ers led 61-52 with only a few minutes left. Heat Check Gaming, however, responded with a 9-0 run capped off by MaJes7ic’s steal and layup. That tied the game at 61-61 with only 25 seconds remaining. 76ers GC milked the clock on their next possession, with Radiant eventually finding Steez streaking to the basket for a wide open dunk. Down by two, Heat Check Gaming had their chance with four seconds left, but Newdini33 stole the inbound pass and ran out the clock to hold on for the 63-61 win.
Radiant came away with game MVP honors for his heroics down the stretch. He finished with a double-double in the form of 19 points and 10 assists. The center for 76ers GC, Steez, found himself with a double-double as well, notching 15 points and 11 rebounds. Those two were great in the pick-and-roll action in the second half.
MaJes7ic and HotShot both finished with 18 points to lead Heat Check Gaming in that category. HotShot filled up the stat-sheet with nine rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and two steals to go along with those 18 points in a losing effort.
